When I have spent time in bed recovering from surgery, I found that I could keep my mind and spirit nourished by embroidering needlepoint pictures. Now, I get up early each morning and embroider for an hour or two. I usually start with a sketch resulting from meditation, and then I let color and shape take over. Each piece takes several months to complete, but it’s the process that I enjoy – there is no urgency to meet any deadline. There are many ways to express ourselves, no matter what circumstances we are in. We just need to find the expressions that give us the most joy.
