I live just a few miles from the White House, and national politics is in the DNA of my home town. After Donald Trump was inaugurated, I started making small needlework resistance pieces that will eventually be folded into a larger artwork. I get up early in the morning and spend a few hours stitching, keeping up with the news and marveling at the resilience of our political systems. Each piece begins with a circle of felt and a few words – the images crystallize as I embroider over days and weeks. They reflect current events and news with hope and humor. We are all living art – what will you make of your life today?
